Optimisation/Search Engine Submission

The aim of the optimisation and submission service is to get your site positioned on the top three pages of results for key words or phrases that your target consumer may use to locate your business in a search engine.

Using the ‘Basic Package’, the probability of this occurring for several main engines is high, given the techniques used. However, for higher probability, it is recommended that the optional service of ‘doorway pages’ be employed.

Basic Package Covers:

  1. Rankings evaluation. Report on the site’s current ranking across 15 Australian and key US search engines* for client’s nominated keywords. Purpose of report is to provide a benchmark against which future measurements can be made. A nil return will probably be given for the site at this stage.
  2. Consultation and recommendations on likely keywords the target audience will use. We will search databases for common phrases and keywords that an internet user may type in to locate products and services of the client. Accurately identifying the phrases or words that viewers may use and optimising for these, is critical.
  3. Any necessary recommendations on how to write web-page text so that search engines will rank the site highly. Rankings depend heavily on the distribution of keywords throughout the text, and if content does not reflect key phrases, it is unlikely that good results can be achieved.
  4. Complete optimisation of at least three individual pages from the site. Each page is treated differently:
    a. Re-coding HTML (descriptions, ALT, link, etc). For non-standard HTML pages, see below on doorway pages.
    b. Minor revisions of web-page text included, but if the client wants Administry to carry out new copywriting or additional editing/checking of body text, see Optional Services.
  5. Manual submission of at least three optimised pages to 15 most widely used* search engines and directories in Australia. Some US-based engines have been included because many Australian internet users either forget the .au, or tend to use US engines.
Over 90% of engine traffic will come from these 15 sites. Manual submission is time-consuming, but more effective than using an auto-submit program. Due to the importance of these engines, a manual submit is conducted.
  6. Auto-submit to numerous other engines. A particular international region can be targeted, if requested.
  7. Two follow-up reports; one month and three months later for the 15 engines. Report will show ranking for each search engine tested for at least three keyword phrases.
It may sometimes take several months, possibly 6 months for an engine to catalogue a site. The reports may show that the site has not yet been indexed in some engines.
  8. Amendments, HTML recoding and re-submission for engines that the site is not ranking well based on the above reports.

Optional Service Package:

  1. Additional pages (ie: more than three) to be optimised and submitted as above.
  2. Creation of "Doorway" pages. These are pages that have been specially designed to rank in search engines and direct viewers to your site. Doorway pages are recommended for sites with frames, javascript, flash, or active server pages. Doorways are also recommended for highly competitive categories eg: IT, electronic consumer goods, travel, etc.
  3. Writing new material: Administry is Australia’s only company that deliberately writes web page text to generate higher search engine position rankings. Frequency and placement of words in text influences a site’s search engine result. Client must provide research and product information.

Maintenance Package

Once in the top pages, this position has to be monitored and maintained. Search engines are constantly changing their indexing. It is usual for a site to lose ranking after a certain period. Clients should be continuously aware of how much exposure their site is gaining. It is recommended that the pages be monitored and re-submitted on a regular basis.

Maintenance includes:

  1. Monthly reporting on the site’s position in the top 15 engines (and a few others) for various key words.
  2. HTML re-coding and re-submission for engines where the site has significantly lost ranking (ie: no longer on top three pages) or has not shown results.

*Top 15 search engines to be targeted are: Yahoo, Yahoo (Australia&NZ), Altavista Australia, Altavista (US), Excite Australia, Excite, Lycos, Sofcom, Go2Net, Looksmart, Looksmart Australia, Go.com, Hotbot, Snap, Anzwers, Infoseek. List derived from the top100.com.

DISCLAIMER: We have conducted extensive research on search engine optimisation techniques, and has achieved good results for its clients. We will do everything possible to achieve top-3-page results, however, due to processes outside of its control – including the internal administration of search engine companies, and unexpected changes to search engine algorithms – it cannot ever guarantee a particular ranking within any specified time-frame.
