Marketing
The definition of marketing is "to offer for sale". Sounds pretty simple until you delve into the myriad of components that need to combine to actually sell a product or service. Marketing is part science and part an art. It is part analysis and part gut feel. Its elements can be learned but more importantly it needs experienced practitioners. It is critical to have a thorough understanding of who the target market is, understand their needs and wants and then be able to hit their "hot buttons", those motivational forces that cause the consumer to react to the offer. So the product or service must be right, it needs to be at the right price, it has to be easily accessed, but if you don’t hit the right hot buttons not a lot will happen.
Marketing is so important that marketing professionals should run businesses, governments, and even the world. If not implemented creatively, passionately and accurately all the effort from the manufacturing, administration, human resources, accounting and IT departments will come to nothing.
